Welcome to Year 6's class page 2018!

Our new learning journey is 'Coastal Invasions'. We all had a lovely afternoon with Year 5 trying out different activities from Saxon times. The children made bookmarks which were decorated using runes, solved riddles and then had a go at writing their own - some of these were very tricky to solve! The children also tried carving decorations into soap, and tie dyed fabric using red and brown onion skins. It was a fantastic afternoon and we'd like to thank all of the adults who came along to help us start off our learning.

As last year, each child will choose five spellings on a Friday to learn over the weekend.  They are due back in school by Wednesday morning. There will also be times table sheets to practise too. It's really important the children know their times tables and can recall them quickly. From this term we will also be sending home further English and Maths homework for the children to do. They can always bring it in and talk to us if they are finding it tricky.

Our PE days this term are Monday and Thursday. Please ensure that your children have a PE kit in school for these days. This term we are doing fitness and High 5 netball.

Should you have any concerns or wish to talk to us about your child’s progress, please feel free to speak to Cherry (Wed-Fri) or Laura (Mon-Wed). One of us will always be in the playground at the end of the day. We also welcome our student teacher Zoe, who will be working alongside us throughout the week.

Our Class Blog 2018!

This week in maths we learnt about shapes and angles, we also learnt about electrical circuits in science to stop Burglar bill from sneaking into people's houses and we joined the Middle Street Police Department. In literacy we did some work on note taking about the Anglo Saxons. FUN FACT: Did you know that, the Anglo Saxons are made up of three tribes who came to England from across the north sea around the middle of the 5th century? Next, we'll tell you about our amazing internet safety assembly with a lady that showed us slides of what's safe online and what isn't safe online. Today we made our own Spanish weather forecast with our Spanish lesson partners. Thanks for reading don't forget to tune in next week, bye!

??Question of the week??

Do you know what Anglo Saxons wore into battle?????
