Middle Street Primary School

Year 6

Welcome to Year 6's class page.  Our new learning journey is Journeys.

Every Friday, each child chooses five spellings to learn over the weekend.  They are due back in school by Wednesday morning.

Please ensure that your child is reading and practising times tables every evening.  Remember practice makes perfect!

This term the children will be learning gym and swimming in PE, as well as how we can use different forms of exercise to keep fit.  Children must bring their complete PE kit every Monday and Thursdays.

Should you have any concerns or wish to talk to me about your child’s progress, please feel free to speak to Cherry or Laura. One of us will always be in the playground at the end of the day.

On Thursday 7th September, Years 5 and 6 visited the Brighton Museum.  We went to the Constable exhibition about the artist's visits to Brighton with his wife.  Then we went to the seafront to sketch our own seascapes, as well as visiting the Brighton Fishing Museum.

On Tuesday 19th September, Years 5 & 6 visited the building work along the seafront. Please see the pictures below.

See the document below.  It explains Year 5 and 6's take home task for the half term.

Welcome to our class blog!

Here are some things that year 6 learnt this week:

  • We have looked at adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions. We think multiplying and dividing are easier.
  • This week in literacy, we had free writing where we could write our own story based on the Last Wild. We really enjoyed the writing!
  • The school football team  beat St.Bernadette's 5:4 after being 4:1 down.
  • We have been rehearsing for our performance of Wind in the Willows. We've worked really hard and are really enjoying it! We hope you do too.
  • We had our last ever swimming lesson in primary school. We got to have some free time to celebrate of the end.
  • Please remember to ask us our question of the week.
